Committed to consultation

The Ayrshire Power team continues to undertake extensive consultation with members of the local community and statutory consultees. This engagement and feedback has helped us to understand some of the local, regional and national issues relevant to the project.

In October 2009, we held four days of exhibitions in the neighbouring communities to provide residents and other interested parties with an opportunity to see our plans and provide feedback to our team. Members of our team were on hand to answer questions about the proposals. We are grateful to the 270 people who attended these events.

On 2 June 2010, we formally submitted the planning application to the Scottish Government. The public has until 20 August 2010 to formally comment on the application.

In June and July, we held three consultation surgeries to allow members of the local community to put their questions to the Ayrshire Power team during the formal public consultation period. The events also gave an opportunity for residents to meet the Ayrshire Power team individually and gain a more detailed understanding about the proposals.

The Ayrshire Power team has also met with local community councils and responded to specific issues raised in these meetings.

In addition to community consultation, we will continue to have regular and constructive dialogue with bodies such as the Scottish Environment Protection Agency, Scottish National Heritage and North Ayrshire Council through the planning process. This will enable us to respond to their questions and address any outstanding points in the application.
