Ayrshire Power invites locals to view plans for new multi-fuel power station

Ayrshire Power, the company working to submit a planning application for a new multi-fuel power station at Hunterston, has announced details of a series of public exhibitions aimed at providing locals and interested parties with more information on the project.

If approved, the state-of-the-art facility will deliver electricity to two million Scottish homes and create a significant number of jobs in North Ayrshire; it will employ around 1,500 people at the peak of construction and around 150 on an ongoing basis once the site is up and running. The commercial-scale deployment of CCS technology also provides an opportunity to develop new skills and employment in this emerging global market for decades to come.

The dates and venues of the public exhibitions are:

  • Friday 2 October, West Kilbride Village Hall
  • Saturday 3 October, Brisbane Centre, Largs
  • Monday 5 October, Fairlie Village Hall
  • Tuesday 6 October, Millport Town Hall

Representatives from Ayrshire Power and their team of advisors will be onsite to discuss the plans with locals and answer any questions or concerns they have.

Muir Miller, Ayrshire Power project director, said: "With the initial Environmental Impact Assessment largely complete we are now in a position to provide the community with details of our proposed planning application and listen carefully to their views.

"These exhibitions are very important to the process of submitting a planning application and we'd encourage people to come along and see for themselves the plans we have for the Hunterston site. We will be taking onboard all comments and concerns and will consider these before submitting any application."

The exhibitions run from 11am until 7pm each day and visitors will be provided with feedback forms to submit any further questions or comments they may have. Further information on the project is available at www.ayrshirepower.co.uk.
